It has been proven that when someone you love takes your hand during a stressful moment it has the power to decrease pain and stress hormones running around inside our bodies. There is a visceral, chemical change inside of us when our spouse holds our hand.
touching each other is that powerful.
I now understand why I reach for Mike’s hand and push body against his when I walk into a dark place or am nervous about an upcoming event.
His touch can bring immediate and soothing relief in a threatening or high stress situation.
what about everyday?
We experience stress and a high possibility of overwhelm each day.
Holding hands on a daily basis has the potential to provide us a more calm approach to kids who refuse to do their chores, difficult to awaken teenagers, and running late to school.
In little ways, as the friend of the person we love most, we can aid in relieving stress in a super simple way.
I love holding hands! And now there’s a good reason to do so much more of it…
