early morning…
a couple of weeks ago I clicked my email on my phone before I’d even gotten out of bed.
In the list of items was a little inspiration in my Love 15 email (yes, I subscribed to my own product…more on that later). It suggested writing a little note and putting it next to each person’s cereal bowl for breakfast.
I laid there thinking for a minute and realized that I could do more than a note. I woke the kids up, grabbed some cute fabric from the closet, and raced downstairs. Usually, breakfast is a stack of cereal bowls on the pennisula with the boxes of cereal next to them. While I write lunch notes and braid hair and make sure everyone has brushed their teeth, the kids pour a bowl of cereal and eat.
This morning was going to be different…only a little bit different but it would be enough to notice.
While everyone was still sleepily waking from their foggy brains, I put the cute fabric across the pennisula, set out a place setting of a bowl, spoon, and cup for each person, and wrote them each a note on a post-it.
Done. Less than 15 minutes. I had done something just a little bit more special than most mornings.
I ran back up the stairs full of adreneline (not normal for me in the morning) and excitement over the secret project I had just done.
In the girls’ room we had our morning scripture time and then it was time to head downstairs for breakfast…
The girls came down and said, “What’s happening? What’s today?”
“Just you,” I said. “A little extra fun because I love you.”
And before the day had even begun they knew that I loved them in an extra kind of way today.
The morning was so much more full of sunshine…seriously!! Stop laughing at my corny-ness. It really was.
It was a little gesture but to the girls…it was more.
Why do I subscribe to Love 15? I’ll tell you tomorrow! 🙂
