What if the way your life is right now was already super cool? What if we weren’t measuring our life against the awesome photos of that super cool Instagrammer and her family? What if we weren’t thinking: as soon as I get this photo shoot edited, I’ll be a good mom? What if we weren’t trying to be that perfect mom/family in our head?
We have so much in the world showing us what awesome people do, what super cute families look like, what happily married couples say to each other. It’s all over Instagram and Facebook and Twitter.
Cute people and cute families doing cute things bombard our lives and from what we see, we take it back to our own lives, our family, our home, and we deem ourselves not enough.
Our families don’t look cute all of the time.
Sometimes we are overworked and over-stressed. And WE don’t look cute all of the time.
And it’s raw and real and full and powerful.
You have a story.
And it’s awesome. And it’s not always cute. It’s real. And it’s amazing. And it’s yours.
Your story is full of things that aren’t always pretty but those things are also what makes your familyness strong and fantastic and interesting!
Whether you’re a mom who just got a camera or a pro photographer that is stressed to the max and the last thing you’re thinking about is picking up your camera to take a pictures of your own family…or you’re somewhere in between…this workshop is for you.
This workshop will change the way you see your life and the way you see your own familyness. When that changes…you’ll begin to see the magic of your own story.

Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or a mom who just wants to take better pictures of your family…this is for YOU!
“When you [photograph] for a living, sometimes picking up the camera feels like work. After listening to Davina and her awesome Familyness ideas, I was re-inspired to document all of the daily happenings in our family, because she’s right…our real lives are beautiful and I never want to forget that. When I follow Davina’s lead, I’m encouraged and re-energized to document the things I love the most. The photos I took within hours of her class are some of my new favorites.” ~Treacy Mize
“I was surprised how much I learned in this course, especially since I already teach my own photography classes! It just goes to show how much you can learn from a different perspective. I love how Davina focuses not just on the technical aspects of storytelling, but truly how to use photography to improve your family relationships. I have never seen another class that so beautifully couples together both the academic and philosophical in a way that so directly impacts our relationships.”~Brooke Snow
“This class will really give you some awesome tools to photograph your family with a method instead of just blindly looking for something to photograph. I’m a method person and the elements of storytelling were life changing, and I was even able to use them in a paid shoot!”~Lauren Clark
“This workshop helped me to see how my family is not boring or ordinary!”~Micky Blumhagen
“I was actually surprised how much I learned. I really thought going into this that I wasn’t going to learn much just because I thought it was going to be pretty basic but WOW! I learned more in this workshop than I have learned I think in any workshop. This workshop truly made me a better photographer. Best money I have ever spent on photography education!”~Laura Turnbough
“I am so inspired! Thank you so much! I am not a great photographer by any means, but I love capturing my kids in their daily life. This workshop is already helping me so much!!”
~Caila“This workshop influenced my family life. For me, I signed up just to learn some “tricks” to take better pictures of my kids, and instead, ended up with not just better pictures, but a better relationship too…and that matters even more to me. Even if you’re a seasoned photographer who doesn’t need “technical help”, this class helps you to relate to your clients in a way that will help them relax in front of the lens and help you to produce genuine images.”~Teri Hales

“I LOVED learning how you tell a story with photographs. The 6 story elements in combination with different compositions was super helpful. Also learning the different energy types in order to photograph people in a way that makes them more comfortable were all amazing ideas. To be honest I had recently taken another photography course and was bummed out because she didn’t include much of the storytelling aspect. I wish I would’ve thought about yours at that time and signed up with you instead! I learned so much more from this course than any other photography related course/reading.” -Snow Cabral
Who is this workshop for?
Photographers who are missing their own story. They feel like the cobbler whose children have no shoes. They feel like their own children are the hardest to photograph for many reasons…lack of time, frustration because of no cooperation, and/or they are burnt out from photographing other people’s families and have nothing left for their own family.
It may come as a surprise but photographers, who have been professionally photographing for 5+ years, discover that they learn a lot from the photography basics. They LOVE the week that covers how to photograph anyone because it helps them immensely, not just with their own family, but with their paid clients as well. Photographers have even said that, “this course is the best money they’ve ever spend on photography education.” (-Laura T.)
You’ll receive tools that will help you love photographing your own family story again as well as see immediate results in your client photo shoots.
Moms who want to take awesome photos of their family. By the end of the first week of class moms have said, “This first week alone has been worth the price of admission.” (-Danielle H.)
If you want to take more than snapshots of your family and have albums that show the story of your life you definitely want to sign up for this course. Moms who feel the only photos they have are ones of their children standing in front of the pool, nature center, amusement park smiling but really want images that show the whole story sign up for this course.
This class is for you if you see professional photographer’s photos of families and wish that you could have them in your home everyday to capture the tooth that fell out, your toddler running around buck naked through the front room, and your 4 year old who spills milk and cereal all over the counter trying to ‘do it herself’.
This class will give you the tools to have the opportunity to capture the everyday moments that can’t be captured unless a professional photographer moved in with you and lived at your house 24/7, 365 days a year.
*this is on online course with no refunds or returns available
