Relaxing fun.
A couple of weeks ago, right after I had done the Dressing Your Truth course and discovered that I was a Type 1 (a person who thrives on fun, ideas, and new experiences), Mike and I went on a date. It was his turn to plan our date.
When I asked Mike what we were doing he said, “In honor of your Type 1 we are definitely doing something to honor your Type 1 nature. (How lucky am I?)
We went and played miniature golf where we were surrounded by giant elephants, giraffes, and blue water waterfalls. We had such a great time being outside, laughing, cheering each other on, and getting a bunch of holes in one (we’re pro mini golfers like that).
I love skee ball and we put a lot of quarters in so we could keep playing to see who could get the most tickets.
We stood at that prizes counter like two little kids trying to decide between the too many options displayed before us in all of their laffy taffy, 1 cent candy, disappearing ink, 5 cent spider ring, sticky hand, whoopee cushion, bouncy ball, cheap yo yo, plastic grasshopper, tootsie roll glory.
The whoopee cushion and disappearing ink would be the most fun. Who doesn’t want to make someone sit on a whoopee cushion?
And who can pass up a photo booth? Not me.
As much as I love a night at the movies the chance to be playful with Mike always makes me feel happier and closer to him. Typically, when thinking about doing a fun date or a hiking date or any kind of date that requires a little bit of planning, it always feels like we need to come up with something ahead of time. However, any date where we actually play always stands out in my mind as my favorite moments with Mike.
Date don’t need to be complicated. A simple date with a mix of fun, a bit of meaningful chatting, and laughter is the most rejuvenating.
How is your Post it Note Adventure going with your spouse?
When Mike and I came up with this challenge at the beginning of the week, I thought, “This will be sooo easy! I could do this with my eyes closed.”
As embarrassing as this is, the first few sticky notes I tried to write were difficult; not because my husband isn’t wonderful but because, much to my surprise, I was woefully out of practice. I’ve always thought I was an awesome compliment-or; but apparently not to the person I love most in the world lately.
I’ve always said thank you for the things that he does; but I discovered that I’ve not been acknowledging his wonderful personality traits…the things that drew me to him in the beginning. It wasn’t the 101 things he does around the house that made me first fall in love with him…it was him!
I’ve had so many unexpected things happen because of this post it note adventure. I can’t wait to tell you about them after the weekend.
Please tell me about your Post it Note Adventures in the comments. I want to hear your story!
