a little bit of fun…
We are on Spring Break so this little post is coming to you on an auto timer. While we’re away on our Staycation Cocoa has decided to hold down the blogging fort.
She allowed Emma to take some pictures of her and asked Grace to write a few things about how awesome she is…
Grace wrote over a 100 details about Cocoa and Cocoa’s pretty happy about that.
One of the things that gets my kids excited about letting me take their picture is letting them be the photographer occasionally. Emma decided her muse would be Cocoa and I love getting to see her perspective.
Without any prompting from me, Emma was laying on the ground to get some of the photos she wanted.
I love the way this little project for the girls came together (creativity tips at the end of this post).

Seeing Cocoa through Grace and Emma’s eyes makes me smile.
I know that Emma can never be close enough to Cocoa. She hugs her all of the time and kisses her nose and tells her how much she loves her. She protects her like crazy. I wasn’t super surprised that every picture she took of Cocoa was super close up and a tight crop.
Grace loves everyone and can’t tell people enough how much she thinks they are awesome. She sees the world with a very love filled heart. That she came up with over 100 ways to describe Cocoa is so her personality.
Seeing my kids create is happiness in itself.
I got to thinking about ways we encourage creativity in our house and came up with a few things we do….
Ways to help children come up with projects of their own:
*Listen to what their favorite topics are
*Supervise (meaning: make sure they don’t click on something inappropriate) their online research
*Help them gather supplies
*Make sure the environment and materials are safe
*Give them space and let them discover for themselves
*We try to keep from sharing our suggestions even if we can see the best way to do things. Letting them figure things out for themselves will give them confidence in their own creative exploring and help them see that there are many ways to reach a solution.
*Use encouraging phrases like: “Tell me how you came up with this!” “You are working hard.” “You’ve used lots of different colors.” “This looks like you’ve spent some time getting the detail work done.”
*Making observational comments on kids’ projects opens up the opportunity for them to share how the came up with their creations.
What projects are your kids working on? What do you do to encourage a creative environment in your home? Tell us in the comments!
Love 15 is a great way to bring creativity into your everyday life.
