A little goes a long way.
Everyone needs more love, more acknowledgment, more seeing of who they are, what they do to make our lives better, and the chance to be held in the light for others to see their goodness.
The people right next to us…the ones we love more need to hear from us. They want to hear about the ways they’ve changed our lives for the better, breathed life into a dark day, done a little something that made us smile.
Our lives are busy. Hectic. Insane. Too much. Overwhelmed. Overworked.
Little things have happened and probably some big things, too, that have been done by someone else to help you through a moment or a day.
For your date tonight download these little thank you cards. Print them out on cardstock, cut along the lines, and take a couple of minutes to write down some little thank yous/love notes for your husband or wife. Take a minute or two on each card to write something that you’ve been grateful for over the past week, think back over the years and what you’ve been through together and thank them for staying, listening, breathing, waking up next to you morning after morning. Think about them what they give to you without realizing, who they are and the characteristics about them that made you love them at first and the ones that make you love them now.
When you’re done, hide each one in a different place that they might discover tonight while you’re on your date…the glove box, stuck in the dashboard of the car, in their wallet, inside their iphone case, slip one on the ticket at dinner tonight when they aren’t looking or in their pocket, or in your hand so that they get it when you hold theirs.
Have fun surprising them all night long with little notes of thanks.
And you’ll notice that something will happen to you as you write and as you give and as you thank.
Your heart will love more deeply.
The thanking is for them…and for you.
