Where is Superwoman?

Because I’m not her and I need a superwoman. charlotte family photographer

I need her to figure out the last bits of details for my blog, have fun with my kids, entertain my sister and her kids, go swimming, write some blog posts to have in storage for when I launch my blog, clean my bathrooms, teach my kids good manners,  get some exercise, and go on a date night with my husband…(wait, I’ll do that one).

Really though, I want to do each and everyone of these things.  Today.

It’s not happening though.  I’ve had to make some decisions.

The first one is that I’m not launching my new blog this week.  (I know.  Really big bummer.)

I always think I’m this amazing multi-tasker.   I’m really not. charlotte family photographer

While other people walk around the grocery store buying things for dinner while they chat non-stop on their phone I’m standing in the aisle buying absolutely nothing or I’ve have decided to sit on the bottom shelf of a Wal-Mart cart while I talk on the phone.  Shopping and talking,  That’s just too much to ask of a person.

Shopping in general is too much to ask of a person.  I’m not a shopper…so maybe that was a bad multi-tasking example.

How about this example instead…when I’m cleaning up my kitchen after dinner.  It seems the perfect time to get some catch up time with my Mom in New Jersey.  Get two things done at one time.  But no, without even realizing it I’ve parked my hinney on the couch while I chat it up with my Mom.  The dishes are waiting for me when I get off the phone.

So…I knew my sister was coming into town.  I believe that this time I’m a multi-tasker and that my brain won’t go on vacation mode this time.  Well, I’m not and it did…

A really important part of life is to give ourselves some leeway.  A little bit of grace.  And so this week I’m giving myself a vacation to just be.  My blog will still be there waiting to be launched.  My sister and her kids won’t.

Superwoman isn’t coming to the rescue…
