A Year of Familyness Project.
Last September when I launched my awesome blog with Sarah we had discussed a plan for doing A Year of Familyness. I had hoped to launch the project ages ago but also wanted to research and develop the idea enough to give it a solid foundation. After a year of researching and a lot of wondering, I’ve finally decided to go for it! The idea is a big commitment for me. I’m not taking it lightly and I know that I want it to make a happy, meaningful difference to families around the world. It’s involved a lot of preparation and months of filling composition books with thoughts, discoveries, and ideas.
I’ve had my share of insecurities about this project thinking it wouldn’t mean much to people and that it wouldn’t make a difference. One day, while journaling, I realized it would matter to the people in my life who matter the most…my own family. And that’s when I knew it was time to stop researching, putting off, and believing that it would happen at the right time.
Now is the right time.
In the process of getting ready for this launch so many awesome things have happened. Those awesome things, in and of themselves, have been a huge blessing to my family. Just the preparation for this project has made a huge impact on me and on us as a family! I thought I was reasearching this project for you, my blog readers, and instead found that it’s been for me in a way I just wasn’t expecting!
I’ve also discovered more about my family and it’s made me even more excited about A Year of Familyness. If the preparation can make such a difference, imagine what a year will be like!
The scope of this project (and that it will last a year) is a bit scary for me. I’ve done some things in my life for a year but this is especially wonderful! So I’m putting it all out there and committing because I know my family will be blessed if I say it to the world: I’m 100% in this. All in. A Year of Familyness. No going back!
I figure if I’m excited about A Year of Familyness then there are other families that will be, too! And I want us all to be in it together!
Each month I’ll explore a different topic of familyness. Through out the month I’ll share my thoughts, findings, and tips on the idea for the month (and I hope you’ll share yours, too).
The part that I’m really excited about though, is that each week there will be a challenge to make that topic for the month become richer, fuller, more fun, and better in our family. I’ll write about the way it’s going for us, the good stuff and the challenges that come with it.
Join me for your own Year of Familyness!
Make sure to sign the Familyness Declaration. 🙂
