kids that like to sleep.
There was a time when my kids were up at the crack of dawn…no matter what time they went to bed the night before.
Now…I have a hard time getting them out of bed and getting going…until I finally found a solution.
I’d tried a number of methods to get them up including their own alarm clock…which they don’t hear. I hear it and have to come into their room and turn it off. And now, I’m up and awake anyway.
Take a look at how to get your kids out of bed without feeling like a nag:
PS I also turn on a light in my kids’ rooms so they don’t think it’s just a dream that I’ve come in to wake them up for school.
What are your tips and tricks for getting your school age children out of bed with out making everyone in a rotten mood before school? I’d love to hear! Leave your ideas for us in the comments below…

Davina! You are the best MOM!!!! I wish I was a kid and you could adopt me! :0) I will try your method tomorrow. This was my approach before but after I got the smile he would turn over get more cuddled in his blanket and not get up! I will try again tomorrow. I am also going to start professing that I love the mornings! ;0)
You are so sweet, Susan! 🙂 How did it it go waking up your kids this way? One of the things I forgot to mention in the post is that I always turn a light on as I walk in the room…that way my kids don’t end up thinking it was just a happy dream that I came in and tried to wake them up! haha. Professing that you love mornings is a great idea, too. I need to start that one!
WAHOOO!!!!!!!!! You did a video!! I’m so excited! It looks great! I need to try this method on MY HUSBAND not my kids 🙂 ha ha! Great tip!
Yes, I did! Thanks to your encouragement! And what a great thought to try this on your husband. I need to be more gentle with the person I love most, too. 🙂 I like your idea.
