It’s here!
We are so excited about The Hunger Games movie opening night tonight at midnight!
We loved these books a few years ago when we read them for the first time. I love the strength of Katniss, who is the main character in the book. So many pieces of who she is come together every time she makes decisions.
So looking forward to the movie (and not just because we’re hoping to see Emmett in it after his turn as an extra for District 12 last summer). Getting to see the behind the scenes of just the District 12 filming was so moving. We can’t wait to see how it all comes together with such a great story as it’s foundation.
Have you read The Hunger Games trilogy? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

What?!?!??! Emmett got to be an extra!!! Now I want to see it even more! I just finished the 2nd book last week (found it at D.I. and snatched it since I had been on the waiting list at the library for about three hundred years!) BUt alas! I haven’t read book 3! How will my life be able to move forward till I know what happens?!?!?!
So glad you’re a hunger games fan too! I knew I liked you!
Yes!!!! It was so exciting to see him on the screen…and pretty surreal. Whenever I see the movie posters at the theatre and them talking about it the internet I squeal inside thinking that Emmett actually got to experience something so awesome. Did you get Mockingjay?
Hi Davina – Jay and I saw it last night and thought it was fantastic. It was such an amazing adaptation. It was, though, very disturbing (as it should be), and the after-effects of watching the violence have stuck with me throughout the night into the morning. Don’t get me wrong – I thought it was amazing, but I find it much easier to read violence than watch it. The actors were phenomenal, especially Jennifer Lawrence, and it was awesome to see Emmett so many times in District 12! Once his face was really big on screen and Jay and I both jumped a little bit. I’m glad Emmett had that experience – he will always remember it.
Hmmm….that’s so interesting that it was harder for you to see the violence than read about it. I was completely disturbed by the animals at the end of the book when I read it and was so glad that was toned down a little in the movie from how I had imagined them in the book. Those things were insane in the book. I agree about Jennifer Lawrence. She did a spectacular job of conveying the inner dialogue that Katniss was always going through with so little dialogue that she had to speak. And holy cow! I know! I was over the moon when Emmet’s face filled the screen that one time!! So completely exciting! 🙂 And so excited for you that Hunger Games has brought you some extra fun attention! 🙂
