Dashti is real and amazing.
Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale is an all time favorite book around here. It’s one of the books that we read at night together. Well…we were reading at night and that turned into the next afternoon because no one could wait until the next night to hear what happened to Dashti, My Lady, and My Lord (the cat). Every time we would read no one wanted to stop.
And, honestly, I’ve not read a Shannon Hale book that I haven’t loved. Every book has heroines that make me proud. Her stories are Grimm Fairy tales retold in a way that makes them barely recognizable and at the same time all the more loved.
Book of a Thousand Days Book Review
Dashti is a maid to Lady Saren. The two girls are locked in a tower for 7 years because Lady Saren refuses to marry a man she doesn’t love. The tale is of their imprisonment (during which the man Lady Saren loves comes to visit) when their food supply runs low, how Dashti’s remarkable gift keep them alive and what happens to them in a 1000 days.
This book is a favorite of Miriam. Here is her review:
