Oh baby!
These chocolate chip cookies are the best there ever was. I mean it.
Over the years I’ve had a lot of chocolate chip cookies and tried many a recipe. Toll House, the back of every bag of chocolate chips, Betty Crocker, Better Homes and Gardens, cookbook after cookbook…
It wasn’t until one Christmas at Mike’s house that I had the perfect cookie. And I’ve never gone back. You won’t either. You’ll be thanking Mike’s mom, Betsy, for the rest of your chocolate chip cookie life.
Chocolate Chip Cookies:
1 cup butter
1 1/3 cup shortening
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups white sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
6 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
1 bag of chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix until creamy the butter, shortening, brown sugar, white sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
Pour on top of cream mixture the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir with a spoon lightly to mix dry ingredients together. Now use mixer to combine dry mixture with creamy mixture. It will feel and look thicker than you’re used to chocolate chip cookie dough looking.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Grab a handful of cookie dough and squish slightly then place on cookie sheet and gently smash it down once. (You don’t need to get all pancake-y on it. It doesn’t have to be flat just smooshed a little.)
Cook in 375 degree oven for 10 minutes. They will be just starting to turn lightly brown on the edges.
Let cool for 3-5 minutes then eat one of those hot little cookies…with a glass of ice cold milk.
This makes a boatload of cookies so invite all of the kids on the school bus to come in for an after school snack. (at least 3-4 dozen depending on how big you make them)
You’ll be in love!
xoxo,
Davina
PS what’s your favorite cookie?

We just ran out…I think we need more. 🙂
Last week I asked Steven what he wanted me to leave him in my will when I die.? ( as a joke )
His answer totally made me laugh out loud! Without missing a beat he said, ” the choc chip cookie recipe, of course! ” 🙂
Totally cracked me up….and so unexpected.
That is hilarious, Rita! It is a recipe that can’t be lived without! 🙂
Natali made 5 doz. and they were all gone in less than 24 hours! I am going to make some and hide them in the freezer in a frozen “spinach” bag! I did eat one, and to be honest, I am not a “cookie” lover, but these are delicious! Maybe I better not make anymore!:) Thanks for sharing the recipe Davina!
Carol, I believe it! They are irresistible! I think you should totally make some and hide them in a spinach bag! So glad you loved them…and that it made so many. 🙂
I love trying new choc. chip cookies on my husband and I look forward to trying yours… Do you know if they freeze well?
Choc. chip had always been his favorite until Mom gave me the recipe for cookies named Pride of Iowa… Have you heard of them? My oh, my, if you like cookies, these are a must!
Have a blessed week!
Kim! They freeze really well. Just pop them in the microwave and they taste like they just came out of the oven. Now, I have another recipe that we love just as much! I need to share it soon!
