a thankful heart is a happy heart.
On Monday I posted a tree we purchased at Anthropologie a couple of years ago. When I checked their store I found out they didn’t offer it any more and so I wanted to give you something that you could do in your home.
I asked Emmett and Miriam to go to the woods and find a branch that looked like a tree…and they came back with a branch that seemed like a small tree. I’m not asking questions…I’m happy they are excited about the project.
The two of them went to the crawl space found the pot and filled it with dirt to keep the tree branch upright. We added some rocks and acorns to the top. I love the texture.
I designed some Thankful Heart tags and printed them out front to back on some light tan and creamy chocolate milk cardstock. (My Grateful gift to you for being part of The Yellow House: Get the Thankful Heart Tree Tags here.)
Everyone wrote things on the back of each tag that they were grateful for…I love that Grace put that she was grateful for herself. And that Emma put that she is grateful for 4 square (it’s a fave around here). And, of course, I loved seeing things like: Jesus, Mom, my brother, Dad, my sisters, pumpkin bread (okay that last one didn’t fit but it’s sooo good!).
We punched a small hole in the top middle of the tag and threaded each tag with some cotton string. (Literally, threaded, with a needle.)
I love the way we can see so many of our blessings and how they look so numerous once they are hanging on the tree…and we only scratched the surface. There are so many that we are going to add!
What are you thankful for?
(I’d love to hear in the comments!)
Happy Thanksgiving!
xoxo,
Davina

Millie, my dear friend. Thank you for writing me this note…you know what it means to me. I am so thankful for you. Happy Thanksgiving. Love you!
Such a great idea! Thanks for sharing! Happy Thanksgiving!
Robin, thank you! I’d love to hear about some of your little Thanksgiving traditions!
Your tree looks marvelous! We made a tree from a branch as well. Our leaves were from construction paper with fall colors. Things we are thankful for that we put on our tree are: Sisters, gummies, mom and dad, scriptures, cousins, tents, sleeping bags, and many more. We agree that we haven’t a even scratched the surface!
Awesome! I love that you made leaves! And that gummies were on the tree …so cute.
Davina!! What a great collection of photos and a super idea. Gracie is the absolute star of the whole project, but do you know what I’m obsessing over? Your gorgeous gray background!!
Pam! Thank you! And my gray background is huge gray background paper; very much mike butcher paper. I love it too!
Thank you, Pam! It’s seamless background paper. I love it! 🙂 You can get it at Adorama.
